revisit of sorts...

Way back I had a post about a little journal I was working on. Way, way back. And I ended that post with 'I'll show you my first collage page on the next post'.
Laughable.
I proceeded to completely get off track and start working on all things St. Patty's-related and never looked back. That's kind of how my mind works. Scary, I know.
So let's revisit this book. Cathy Holden's instructions are totally worth checking out (you can find them here).
This morning I picked up right where I left off, once I finished sorting through everything I had just shoved into the project's box (because I was going to come right back to working on it... so I really didn't need to neatly put anything away. Umm hmm. That's how I rationalize my messy ways.)

Each section has a pocket with a collage facing it. Here's the first finished page-
It's fun to just slap some paint here and there without a plan. That has been the hardest thing about collage (for me)... the whole 'without a plan' part. I'm a planner. Once I actually get some images glued down and a little paint added to it I begin to feel a sense of freedom. I feel brave enough to keep adding things. Usually I shop through the metal tin that sits on my table- it's filled with little bits that I hoard, thinking they might work in collage and I just glue away...
I've used this chubby little girl before. I love her cheeks! She looks just like one of The Daughter's friends from way back in Kindergarten...
Hmm. Way, way back. Just today, The Daughter took her last final for the school year and she is now officially a Senior. Where did the time go???

I will be back tomorrow to show you the next page. I swear. Honest.
