up on a pedestal...

I was thinking about how to photograph my little collage yesterday and I grabbed a small pedestal.
These are great little things to have around... you can use them to display a picture or a bird's nest or a candle or maybe even a cupcake! Be forewarned- the cupcakes don't stay on display long if you're like me, but they do look cute for presentation.
These couldn't be easier to make either. For this one I used a tiny glass candlestick and a chipboard scalloped circle I cut using a Sizzix die. Don't worry, you don't have to cut your own- there are lots of chipboard shapes out there that you can purchase. Just use a good strong adhesive to glue the two pieces together and be patient... let it really dry well.
I spray painted the entire thing and when it was dry, I covered the chipboard with some happy red polka dot paper, sanding the edges for a little distress. See? Easy peasy. I have tons of these in all different sizes and use them all the time.

Hmm... I still have a stack of those coasters left- maybe I'll make another pedestal today!

This would be the perfect thing for work, we are always needing little risers for displays. Great idea!!!!!
