Another swap I participated in last month was A Swap For All Season's "winter" quilt swap... we were randomly paired up and the assignment was to creat a mini quilt (only 5"x7") from whatever we wanted, providing the base of the quilt was fabric.
Well, I love me some fabric- but I do believe I've become much more comfortable with paper! So I used a natural cotton batting for the base and went to town with paper. Vintage sheet music, watercolor paper (love the texture), a glittery snowflake and one of my favorite images of kids sledding. Well, they're not really sledding- it's all about the props! The image was just perfect because my swap partner has 4 kids. A really bling-y button and some sparkly silver chenille stem finished it off.
Here's what my partner made- isn't it pretty? She is a fabulous machine quilter and I even love the back of the piece- it's (what else?) sheet music! A girl after my own heart.
Both pieces are just perfect.
Keep smiling and creating
Yes, both are wonderful!
I love both of them! Each in their own way!
LOVE your snowy, glittery image. And yeah, I want to sew on paper...I've got to get my machine in and get it up and running. In this class I took, LOTS of sewing on paper. You did a beautiful job...love it!
