I wanted a message board to hang next to the front door of our cabin. The cabin is a bit of an ugly duckling that I'm trying to turn into a swan (or at least a better-looking duck) on a very limited budget. We're talking next-to-nothing budget. Thrift store to the rescue!
I forgot to take a 'before' photo of this picture frame when I first got it home- I'm not sure I waited more than the time it took to get a drink of water before I grabbed the spray paint and got to work. The picture was horrible- kind of a 'fake gesso palm tree' thingy. All I knew was it was definitely worth the $6 just for the thick frame.
I taped off the frame and painted the inside with spray chalkboard paint (that stuff is amaaaazing) then I taped the chalkboard off and painted the frame. Yeah, I realize it's kinda banged-up/beat-up but for me that just adds to the charm.
Then I made a little banner to remind us to 'play'. Super easy, super quick. I just followed the same basic procedure I did with this one.
